HIT 2006 : 'Mette' : the new Danish voice in Scandinavia.

Booth 10 Acapela Group, the European leader in speech solutions, will attend the HIT accessibility tradeshow in Nyborg next month. Acapela will be showcasing its latest version of Infovox Desktop PRO, designed to help people who are visually impaired, dyslexic or who have reading difficulties. Acapela’s new Danish voice ‘Mette’ is integrated in this solution.

Acapela’s Infovox Desktop PRO allows users to have a chosen text read aloud, listen to the spelling of a text while it is being written, access a computer through a screen reader and add voice output to other computer applications, thereby making computers more accessible for both the visually impaired and individuals suffering from learning difficulties.

With the new Danish voice ‘Mette’, Acapela meets the Scandinavian market’s need for a high-end, natural sounding, text-to-speech solution. ‘Mette’ joins the other languages in the Scandinavian portfolio – the Swedish voices Emma and Erik and the Norwegian voice, Kari - to offer the market an outstanding, cutting edge choice of languages and voices. The multilingual range of Acapela now includes 22 languages in over 50 male and female voices. ‘Mette’ is already being implemented in Scandinavia by major players such as ScanDis, Rolltalk, Cognita and Viking Software.

Infovox iVox, a new voice based interface designed to allow the visually impaired to use Mac OS X freely and to access the relevant information they require, will also be part of the ‘hot topics’ demonstrated during the show. Infovox iVox is a powerful speech synthesis application, developed in partnership with AssistiveWare, and designed to give vocal access to written information. Infovox iVox is compatible with VoiceOver, the Mac OS X integrated screen reader.
