CAE simulators - Overhead text-to-speech.

January 3rd, 2002

CAE, the world's premier provider of simulation and control technologies for the Aerospace and Defence sectors, is using Acapela text-to-speech to voice enable its DVRS (Digital Voice Response System).

The DVRS simulates Automated Terminal Information System (ATIS) weather broadcast and radio transmission chatter (radio conversation between aircraft and air traffic controllers) by using Acapela text-to-speech technology.

Enhanced high fidelity radio chatter simulation.

Thanks to Acapela 's TTS, the information is generated from any text, providing contextual information correlated to real time events within the simulated airfield environment. No more updating problems and recording costs: using TTS technology, the application benefits from low-cost development and maintenance. The PC-based and stand-alone application can interface to any host computer.

CAE's DVRS system is already used on the following programs : SH-2G Operational Flight Trainer for the Royal Australian Navy; C-130J Weapon Systems Trainers for the U.S. Air Force and Airbus A340-500/600 Full Flight Simulator for the Airbus Training Center in Toulouse, France.
