Acapela reads news reports for AFP.

January 3rd, 2002

AFP, the worldwide multilingual and multimedia news agency, with its partners Atos Origin and A2PRL (Lagardere group), has recently launched a new Audiotel information service to provide access to the latest news reports (08 92 68 35 34, accessible from France only).

AFP's Information service was developed in cooperation with A2PRL for the contents and Atos Origin for the technological know-how in developing and hosting the service. This service aims to provide, in a few minutes, the highlights of international, political, economical, cultural and sports news, enhanced by the latest reports and analysis from local AFP correspondants worldwide.

The "Last minute news" part was entirely developed using text-to-speech technology.

Acapela High Quality TTS reads out the latest news reports available in AFP's "Journal Internet". This service, source of short and sharp information about the latest events, now includes three parts : "Main headlines", "France" and "Worldwide" news, and may be extended to other news categories in the future.

Yet another example of a successful deployment for Acapela High Quality TTS, widening the horizon of consumer applications for TTS technology every day.
